Matthew Bartels is Sure Sight Home Inspection’s owner and sole inspector. Matt brings more than fifteen years of experience in the home inspection field and a passion for ensuring that home buyers are well-informed as they make one of the most important purchases of their lifetimes.
A native of Maryland, Matt began his home inspection career serving the Washington, DC metropolitan area. After he and his family relocated to the Triangle in 2006, Matt established Sure Sight Home Inspection serving Raleigh, Durham, Chapel Hill and the surrounding areas.
Matt is licensed to perform home inspections in the state of North Carolina (license #2490), and his inspections adhere to and exceed the standards set forth by the North Carolina Home Inspector Licensure Board (NCHILB). He is committed to staying on top of the latest developments in the home building and repair industries, regularly attending continuing education seminars and training for tradesmen in the industry.
A Level 1 certified thermographer through The Snell Group, Matt was the first home inspector in the Triangle to offer infrared thermal imaging as an add-on to his inspections. This technology enables him to see more than a typical visual inspection of the home, identifying water penetration, overheating electrical wiring, and missing or significantly misplaced insulation. While many builders and real estate agents have referred to the use of thermography as “cheating” in the home inspection, thermal imaging has saved many home buyers the agony of unanticipated repairs and high utility bills after they’ve moved into their new homes. Matt has been pleased to be a pioneer in the use of thermal imaging and advises other home inspectors on how to optimize their inspections with thermography.
Outside of work, Matt likes spending time with his wife and daughter and enjoying the outdoors.
